Many things happened recently, maybe not visibly, but more spiritually. I decided to give up many things: bad habits, anime, worldly music, etc. It is such a drastic decision, in just a night more than 20GB of space was freed out from my laptop and external hard disk. Can you imagine how much rubbish I stored in my laptop and hard disk? It is was such a relief after letting go all these things. Instead of interest or hobby, these affections eventually become addictions that bound my heart, prevent me from pursuing the perfect affection in Christ. After freeing myself from these worldly affection (by the power of God!), the feeling is just so..... indescribable. I choose to throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and... run with perseverance the race marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1).

All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
- Isaac Watts -

Many things in this world look so adorable to me in the past, but after Christ came, these things just become so meaningless, so vain. But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ (Philippians 3:8)

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
in the light of His glory and grace.
- Helen Howarth Lemmel -

This is basically how I spent my Friday and Saturday night.
But a laptop instead of a smartphone.

And Hear How These Two Pilgrims Talk Together

When we are called by God to follow him, we are not called to walk alone in this pilgrimage. When we are called into a relationship with God, this relationship doesn't just grow vertically, but horizontally. In our pilgrimage, God prepares companions for us because

The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." (Genesis 2:18).

This verse usually quoted by many people to show that it is normal for man to feel alone and want to seek for a partner in marriage, but this verse doesn't just mean that God prepares a partner in marriage for man, but God want us to walk along with other believers, to grow along with other believers.

But...
Why it is so important to grow together?
Why is it so important to be in a fellowship?
Why is it so important to prayer together?
Why is it not good for man to be alone?

Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!" (1 Corinthians 12:14-21)

A believer is not given with all spiritual gifts, each are given with different gift, in order to help one another and build up the body of Christ. Just as the eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!", and the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"  so a believer cannot say to another believers, "I don't need you!".

Let us see what J. I. Packer’s帕克opinion about fellowship.
We should not…… think of our fellowship with other Christians as a spiritual luxury, an optional addition to exercises of private devotion. We should recognize rather that such fellowship is a spiritual necessity; for God has made us in such way that our fellowhip with fellow Christians, and requires to be so fed constantly for its own deepening and enrichment.

So you can see that to fellowship together is not a option, rather it is a necessity.

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. (Hebrews 3:13)

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? (Ecclesiastes 4:9-11)

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. (Proverbs 27:17)

Both the Hebrews’ writer and Solomon recognized the importance of fellowship. Two are better than one, first because of the synergistic effect增效的作用. An iron cannot sharpen itself, so do a Christian cannot sharpen his faith by himself. Two Christians sharing the Word together can learn more than two of them studying individually, they stimulate one another. Two can also help one another when others are weak or struggling with something, lest that we fall into temptation.

Some people might heard before a book called Pilgrim's Progress 《天路历程》 written by John Bunyan 约翰班扬. It is an allegorical tale of Christian's journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City

One of the most interesting part is when the author tried to emphasizes the importance of fellowship together with each other. When Christian 基督徒 and Hopeful 希望 are walking through the Enchanted Ground 被施了魔法的土地, Hopeful feels so drowsy and wants to sleep, but Christian reminds him by quoting "Let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober." (1 Thessalonians 5:6), because if they should sleep at the Enchanted Ground, they will never wake up again from their sleep. Hopeful realizes his mistake and said "Two are better than one." (Ecclesiastes 4:9)*. So they decided to have a discussion to keep them awake. Later Christian sings a song,

When saints do sleepy grow, let them come hither 这里,
And hear how these two pilgrims 朝圣者 talk together;
Yea, let them learn of them in any wise,
Thus to keep ope 开放 their drowsy 困倦, slumb’ring eyes.
Saints’ fellowship, if it be managed well,
Keeps them awake, and that in spite of hell.
to help when other falls down
to keep each other warm.

So have you commited in a fellowship?
If yes, continue in it.
If no, find a fellowship.
Remember that we are not to commit to the meeting itself, but we are to commit to Jesus Christ and to one another.

Here is a last verse for all of us to think about.
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25)

'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

It was a beautiful sunny day. Louisa M. Stead, her husband, and her daughter Lily, decided to go for a picnic. They went picnicing on Long Island Sound. While having their picnic, the Steads heard a scream. It was from a young boy. Mr. Stead ran to the rescue. Louisa Stead and young Lily watched helplessly as Mr. Stead and the boy drowned. Their troubles were not over yet, however, and without her husband, Mrs. Stead became very poor and destitute.Yet God never left her. He provided for her always and she and her daughter made it through. Louisa learned to trust God, and thus the words to the song 'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.' Shortly after this incident, Lousia and her daughter Lily moved to South Africa where they became missionaries.

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Godly life = Persecution ?

Why am I so afraid to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ?
Why am I so timid to share my testimonies in the Lord Jesus Christ?
Why am I so reluctant to put the name of the Lord Jesus Christ on my lips?

My life in Christ have been too comfortable.
 Have I been living up for the name of Christ?
Have I been standing up for the name of Christ?
Have I been suffering for the name of Christ?
Have I been persecuted for the name of Christ?

By the way
...
I expected and tried to avoid criticism from muslims,
but ended up attacked by an atheist.
Seriously, why some people so stubborn and stiff-necked?

I Have Decided to Follow Jesus

Source: Wikipedia

The lyrics are based on the last words of a man in Assam, north-east India, who along with his family was converted to Christianity in the middle of the 19th century through the efforts of a Welsh missionary. Called to renounce his faith by the village chief, the convert declared, "I have decided to follow Jesus." In response to threats to his family, he continued, "Though no one joins me, still I will follow." His wife was killed, and he was executed while singing, "The cross before me, the world behind me." This display of faith is reported to have led to the conversion of the chief and others in the village.

I have decided to follow Jesus.
No turning back, no turning back.

Though none go with me, I still will follow.
No turning back, no turning back.

The world behind me, the cross before me.
No turning back, no turning back.

Though none go with me, still I will follow.
No turning back, no turning back.

My cross I'll carry till I see Jesus.
No turning back, no turning back.

- Sadhu Sundar Singh -

 Then he said to them all: "If anyone would come after me,
he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for me will save it.
What good is it for a man to gain the whole world,
and yet lose or forfeit his very self?"

Great is Thy Faithfulness

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee,
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not,
As Thou hast been,Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above;
Join with all nature in manifold witness,
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own great presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today, and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.

- Thomas Chisholm -

We tend to define freedom as doing the things
that are prohibited by the law of God,
and having an idea that God is limiting our freedom.
The truth is, God doesn't want us to be enslaved by the things
prohibited by the law of God,
so that we can be free from sins and find eternal joy in God alone,
and we can do that by grace alone, through faith in Christ alone.

主愛何奇妙,應感謝、頌揚;

Worship the King Our God

 Come lets worship the Lord — the Glorious King,
The Lord's amazing love is worthy of our thanksgiving and praise,
He is our shield, our eternal refuge,
Glory is His temple, filled with sound of praises.

God's soverignty and love is worthy of our praises,
Light is His robe, sky is His curtain!
Thunder is His wrath, like a chariot galloping through.
Wind and storm and darkness follow His footsteps.

Come let us worhsip the King our Lord, let us sing praise to His grace,
Let us proclaim His mercy and love,
Come let us worhsip the King our God.

Lips and tongues cannot describe His abundant love and provision,
Like light shining forth, like air immersing through,
Like stream flowing from mountain into valley,
Like rain pouring down and moisture the land.

Come let us worhsip the King our Lord, let us sing praise to His grace,
Let us proclaim His mercy and love,
Come let us worhsip the King our God.

Come let us worhsip the King our Lord, let us sing praise to His grace,
Let us proclaim His mercy and love,
Come let us worship and praise Him!

Come let us worhsip the King our Lord, let us sing praise to His grace,
Let us proclaim His mercy and grace,
Come let us worhsip the King our God.
Come let us worship and praise Him, worship Him together!

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou My Vision (Irish: Bí Thusa 'mo Shúile)

Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
naught be all else to me, save that thou art;
Thou my best thought by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

Be thou my wisdom, thou my true word,
I ever with thee and thou with me Lord;
Thou my great Father, I thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with thee one.

Be thou my battle shield, sword for the fight;
Be thou my dignity, thou my delight;
Thou my soul's shelter, thou my high tower:
Raise thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise:
Thou mine inheritance now and always;
Thou and thou only first in my heart;
High King of Heaven, my treasure thou art.

High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, O Bright Heaven's sun!;
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Celibacy?

Many times I wonder,
"Do I have the gift of celibacy?"

 If the answer is yes,
Lord please teach me how to exercise this gift,
and use it for Thy glory.

If the answer is no,
Lord please seal my heart for Thy court above,
until the time that you determined comes.

Rock of Ages

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eyes shall close in death,
When I rise to worlds unknown,
And behold Thee on Thy throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
